spiked is an online UK current-affairs magazine built atop of the ExpressionEngine content management platform. I took over the development and maintenance of spiked in early 2014 and have since developed a number of the site’s newer areas including the popular Free Speech Now! and Free Speech University Rankings. Notable achievements also include migrating the site from an expensive dedicated server running Apache to a scalable AWS server running Nginx, this had the effect of increasing page load times while at the same time reducing hosting costs.
